Welcome to the online tour of
Our School.

| Frequently Asked Questions |
Welcome
to the Office! The office is located at the opposite end of the
kindergarten wing.
At first glance, the office does not look like an
office. It has no walls blocking it from the hallway, no doors to go
through. It is truly the central heart of the school (even if it is
not located there)
Our secretary, Coreen Nadeau, is always around. If she is not
at the desk, don't worry she soon will be. She is there to answer
any questions you may have.

Walking
down Duclos School hallway you'll not only see great artwork
located outside the classrooms, but you will also notice that there is
only one central hallway in the school.
You
will also notice "The Good Behaviour Tree." It is
each child's goal to end up with a leaf, snowflake or flower blossom on
our tree. This tree ties in with Michelle
Borba's Moral Intelligence.
|
If
you walk down the main hallway, you'll pass the classrooms, "pods"
as we call them. There are four (4) classrooms located in each pod.Students in Grade 1 through 4 are located in these pods. They are
grouped together as grade groups. These classrooms were renovated
during the summer, and now all have new flooring. These classrooms
also contain a "cozy corner." The cozy corner is used in a
variety of ways in each classroom.
|
Continuing
down the main hallway you will come across our library. Our library
is home to 1000s of great children's literature as well as many resources
for the teachers. Students in grade 1-4 have library twice a
week. Children in Kindergarten go to the library once a week. This is when they exchange their books and listen to a great
story read by our librarian, Cindy. Students are allowed to take out a
maximum of two (2) books at time.
|
Inside
the pod that is closest to the library is our computer room. Duclos
School has more than 50 computers for the students and staff to
use. We have high speed internet on all computers and access to
great learning programs for typing, word processing and presentations.
Duclos
School is proud of the technology that they incorporate into the
classrooms, with the use of Smart Boards and the instruction that each
student receives in ICT. Students can be found in the computer lab at many
times, working on projects, learning new things, and of course having
fun.
|
 Our
School also has two smaller rooms that are dedicated to one on one
learning. It is here in these rooms that students receive help
with their reading. The get one on one time for 30 minutes each
day.
|
Adjacent
to the library is one of two entrances to our gym. The gym at Duclos
School is defiantly one of the nicest around. With hardwood floors
and adjustable basketball hoops. It is here in the gym that the students not only exercise their bodies,
but also their minds. Every Monday there are assemblies in the gym
where the entire student body gathers. At these assemblies there
could be announcement, skits, lessons and our infamous "Good
Behaviour Leaves."

The gym also boasts the annual Christmas Concert as well as many other
performances that the school hosts.
|
Continuing down the hallway you'll pass the
concession stand.
Where milk, subs and peanut free ice cream is sold at lunch time.
You can pre-purchase milk tickets at the office for your child.
|
Coming now to an end of our tour, we end up in the
Kindergarten wing. Where it really all starts.

In the kindergarten wing
there are three main kindergarten classes that are all connected. In
each classroom there is a connected bathroom, so the children do not have
to leave the classroom. If you have a child that is close to
entering school, be sure to check out not only the great program that
Duclos offers, but also the great learning environment for your child.

This wing also hosts 2 other classrooms that are similar to the
classrooms in the pods.

That is the end of our tour. Come and
